Aubrey Phelps and Kenadie Behne performed in the OPUS honor choir at Iowa State University. Over 2,700 students auditioned from all over the state competing for one of the 700 spots. There are four total choirs: a 5th-6th grade choir, 7th-8th treble choir, 7th-8th bass choir, and a 9th grade choir. Aubrey (5th) and Kenadie (7th) were the first Tipton students to make it into OPUS in over 12 years. Congratulations girls! 🖤🎶💛

Tipton Elementary and Middle School are safe and secure thanks to help from Tinzlee this morning. It was color wars at the elementary school so Tinzlee was wearing her green attire to represent the 3rd grade class color. Tinzee checked to make sure doors were secure, that the blue room was empty and clear, and that the Tiger Stripes were secure behind the sliding glass doors. We made our way to the Middle School side and Tinzlee found some big friends that were happy to see her. We then checked the refrigerator in the teachers lounge to make sure no one was stealing lunches. We came across Mr. Heitland, who was warming up in his office from sleeping on the roof of the school last night and checked to see if he was ok. Glad to report Mr. Heitland is thawing out nicely. Principal Woods gave a special assignment to Tinzlee to go and check the custodial room door to make sure it is secure. We cannot share why the door needed to be secure because of top secret reasons but we are glad to report that the door is locked. After all the rounds we wanted to make sure that the refrigerator in the elementary teachers lounge was safe from any lunch thieves. Officer Dierks found a doughnut and was going to taste test it for security reasons but then Tinzlee stepped in and rescued the doughnut. Good thing Tinzlee was there or I would have been taking a report later for a missing doughnut! Tinzlee was a great helper this morning and I appreciate her help!

Thank you to the students who woke up Mr. Heitland and Mr. Griffin so they could get ready for the school day. We hear it was very cold up on the roof, and the cows kept them up all night!

River Valley Conference Honor band was at Mid Prairie tonight. The 7th-8th grade band and the high school band spent the day working with guest conductors and coming together this evening for a joint concert. What a great day of music making! 🎶

We've got some campers up on the roof! The elementary Kids Heart Challenge goal was met and Mr. Heitland and Mr. Griffin are sleeping on the roof! If you see them honk, wave and send warm thoughts!

Happy World Kindness Day! Here in Tipton we practice being kind every day! #makekindnessthenorm
