Tipton Transition Center

Welcome to the Tipton Transition Center home page.

The Tipton Transition Center provides services for students ages 18-21 that continue to have unmet needs in the area of living skills, working skills, and communication skills. At the Transition Center, students focus on skills that are necessary for independent living, vocational experiences, community involvement, and academics to support their journey into adulthood and the workplace.

Goals of the program revolve around employment and helping with some basic living skills.  All students must have an IEP.  Students train at community business sites 4 days per week for up to 1.5 hours per day. A classroom setting will provide opportunities to learn and practice daily living skills based on students' needs such as meal preparation, grocery shopping, budgeting, self-advocacy, recreation/leisure activities, employment preparation, and more.

Attending the Tipton Transition Center is an IEP team decision and must be recommended by the team prior to application. You can find the eligibility criteria and application on this page along with the brochure. If you have any questions regarding the Tipton Transition Center please contact Whitney Gehrs, Transition Center Teacher, or Dawn Siech, Special Education Director, at the phone number listed below.
