Iowa School Report Card

The Iowa School Report Card is a new system to show how each public school is performing on certain educational measures. The system assigns schools one of six overall ratings: Exceptional, High-Performing, Commendable, Acceptable, Needs Improvement, and Priority. The ratings are based on each school’s performance over a two-year period on up to eight educational measures.

In order to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of English Language Learners (ELL), Tipton Community School District has developed an English Language Learner plan.

ELP Program Information

The Tipton Community School District's mission for a strong peer mentoring program is to positively impact the lives of young people by providing support and learning opportunities that promote character development and life-enhancing experiences.​

Professional development encompasses all types of facilitated learning opportunities, ranging from college degrees to formal coursework, conferences and informal learning opportunities situated in practice. It has been described as intensive and collaborative and there are a variety of approaches to professional development, including consultation, coaching, communities of practice, lesson study, mentoring, reflective supervision and technical assistance.

Professional Development Site

Each public and accredited non-public school district in Iowa is required to have a School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC) comprised of representatives of the fabric of the community.

Membership

The School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC) is a district appointed committee that is representative of the Tipton Community School District and community. SIAC membership is made up of community members, staff, administration, and students of the Tipton Community.

Purpose

The purpose of the SIAC Committee is to provide input to the board of education regarding:

• Major educational needs

• Long-range and annual improvement goals

• Progress toward meeting district goals

• Stability of the district in regards to finance and education. 

Responsibilities

The SIAC Committee will meet at least annually to review district data and develop recommendations for the board of education. In addition, individual SIAC committee members will be available to meet with the Department of Education Comprehensive Site Visit Team.

The board promotes healthy students by supporting wellness, good nutrition, and regular physical activity as a part of the total learning environment. The school district supports a healthy environment where

students learn and participate in positive dietary and lifestyle practices.
